THE WIND FROM NOWHERE: Pyramid Office

Some concept art from J.G. Ballard’s little known first novel THE WIND FROM NOWHERE.
Global hurricane strength winds blast and scour the earth driving the population underground.
Hardoon, a billionaire with plans to take over everything has the foresight to build a concrete pyramid to protect himself from the apocalyptic winds. Underneath is a system of bunkers housing his own private army.
On the second floor of his apartment, right up at the top of the pyramid is Hardoon's suspended office pod. It serves as a cosy little retreat for him. From here he can sit and watch the giant screen outside the office windows. It shows views of the wind blasted landscape outside, or anything else that Hardoon wishes to watch.

I decided to design it in a retro brutalist architecture style. I was aiming for a James Bond style villain’s lair.
J. G. Ballard’s style is well matched with lots of concrete and since the novel came out in the early 60’s I didn’t want it to look too contemporary.
