The third vehicle I designed for DECIMATED was a lightweight motorbike. There’s a lot of vehicles required for the game so I thought I’d start with a small but fast bike with hubless wheels and then work up to some bigger, faster, meaner bikes later. This is also the first motorbike I’ve ever had to design so it was a bit of a toe in the water situation.
I’ve always thought that most motorbikes look like a jumbled mess of different pieces slung together. To me the biggest, fastest and most popular motorbikes look like a lot of visual clutter most of the time, especially most modern Japanese racing bikes.
This opinion doesn’t stretch to the classic Harley Davidson style bikes where the top half is pure Roy Rodgers and the bottom half is Buck Rodgers. I’m looking forward to getting my head into motorbike styles and seeing exactly why they look the way they do, and making sense of them. Then cyberpunk them up!
Now that I’ve been working on DECIMATED for a couple of months I now know the style that is required for the game. I did miss the mark just a little bit in these early concepts and renders. But it’s also given everybody a chance to get a feel for what style will be required. It’s been a real learning curve.
