The ceremony for launching ships hasn't changed in centuries. The champagne may now be vat grown and artificial but swinging a bottle and smashing it against the side of a brand new passenger liner is still a very real and important experience.
Usually these days, it isn't royalty that blesses all those that sail in the vessel but a fading holostar, who will be glad of the publicity and a trip to the systems shipyards.
