This is the final concept sketch for the Star Wars Speeder Bike.
I tweaked some minor details on the bike again. I went through about two dozen variations on the paint job but eventually arrived at this final version.
The sidecar was subliminally influenced by a cross between a bobsleigh and my friends parents car roof rack.
The rules were scratch build a Star Wars Speeder Bike with a Bounty Hunter Rider. My friend Colin Armitage built the bike, droid and rider and his colleague Roy Bell painted the model. They built and painted the Jawa Sandcrawler as seen at the end of Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker. Given the timescales involved they did a beautiful job under pressure.
The competition was the Archive-X Speeder Bike Challenge 2020.
We had an inkling that because it was a joint effort we would be penalised in the competition, or, worst case scenario, we would be disqualified. As it turns out, we were disqualified.
But it didn't matter, we were not in it to win it. We had fun, I was pleased with my designs, Colin did a great build and Roy brought it to life with his painting.
