Keyframe Concepts - experiments with AI

I thought I would have a go at some AI. This was a reluctant choice. As a concept artist I have always viewed it as the enemy.
So I decided to take some old Inktober sketches from 2018, put them into AI with a minimum of prompts and see what it came up with.

I was kind of pleasantly surprised, as it rendered out almost exactly as I imagined it and what I would have attempted to paint if I had done it myself. It did however require about three different versions and a lot of photoshopping to make them work.
It was a very quick process compared to me sitting and digitally painting the whole thing, which is a good solution if time is money and a fast result is required.
On the positive side, the AI didn't add anything extra that I didn't want, it stayed extremely close to my initial sketches and gave me the look I was after.
On the negative side, because they were done with AI I didn't get very excited about it, or be impressed by it. I would much rather have painted them myself, so I'm glad there was a fair amount of photoshopping to get to the final result.

So I've discovered it is possible to use it as a tool. I'm not sure if it will be acceptable to use it in a production environment in an art department in film or TV. Time will tell.
