DECIMATED : CAR A

Here’s the finished renders for the roadster.
It’s a bit of a small leap in quality when you compare it the first renders I did for DECIMATED.
I’m always striving to improve the quality.
I was asked to do some colour variations for the car, nothing specific. This is because eventually the player will be able to choose their own colour scheme and decals.
I did a variety of colour schemes, some wilder than others… check out the pink hairdressers car!
It turned out none of them were right, they were all too clean, too brash, too colourful.
The cars all need to be well used, beat up and colourful Japanese drift racing colours, as cyberpunk as they are, do not fit into the DECIMATED world.
Eventually we settled on the last colour scheme and I did a rear version of that as well.
At this point, the 3D team along with the other concept artists had been developing the world and it’s looking absolutely great. The visual language was now pretty clear, so I had to start making my vehicles fit in with everything else. More angular, used and more cyberpunk greeblies.
My renders were described as being too ‘stylised’. I needed to add in more photobashed elements, make them look less drawn and emphasise the tech bits, make them more realistic. For instance, replace the clean wheel caps with something more aggressive looking.
I didn’t mind, I was only two months in to working as a concept artist, whatever’s best for me has to better for DECIMATED.
Time to up my game!

Oh, as an aside, the cyberpunk woman sat in the car is not mine. It was quicker for me to find an image online and alter it by adding in the glasses and the gun, and less cleavage than for me to paint somebody fresh in. I tried to source the image to find out who painted her but with no success. So whoever did it, thank you very much, I don't wish to take the credit. But she does look great in the car.
From now on, I shall make my own images.
